Creatine – basic information

In 1998, a double-blind study was published in Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise, assessing the effect of creatine supplementation among a group of football players . After 28 days of creatine use, hematological parameters remained within normal limits in active people, with no adverse effects reported. The group using creatine monohydrate showed an increase in total body weight , with no differences in the percentage of total body water, and better performance during training. The results of the study indicated that creatine supplementation may promote an increase in total body weight and/or lean body mass , as well as increase strength gains and improve physical performance and/or recovery . This means that previous reports regarding the use of creatine have been confirmed.
